Hair Care Dos
1. Oiling your hair
The first step of the haircare routine is oiling. Often, you must have heard your grandmother telling you about the benefits of oiling your hair. Oiling helps our hair to grow faster and provides nourishment to our hair. Oil your hair at least two times a week if you have dry hair. If you have an oily scalp, do once in a week.

You can use Carrier oils to include olive oil, coconut oil, almond oil like this. Once in a while, apply warm oil helps to increase blood circulation in your scalp. It will also help you get rid of stress and calm your mind. Keep oil in your hair only for 2-4hours. Letting the oil sit in your scalp for over 24 hours will attract a lot of dirt, the result will be dandruff and hair fall.
- Do not apply a lot of oil in your hair. If you apply too much, shampoo in an excessive amount it will eventually make your hair drier.
- Keep oil in your hair only for 2-4hours. Letting the oil sit in your scalp for over 24 hours will attract a lot of dirt, the result will be dandruff and hair fall.
- Do not comb your hair after applying the oil as our scalp is in a relaxed state.
2. Washing your Hair the right way
After oiling your scalp, the next step is washing your hair in the right way. Focus on shampooing your scalp rather than your roots and ends. How many times should you wash your hair in a week? If you have oily hair wash your hair 2 times a week. If you have dry hair wash your hair on alternate days. Always use a Sulphate and Paraben Free Shampoo. Do not use excess shampoo to wash your hair. It will make your scalp dry and that can generate dandruff.

3. Condition your Hair
Conditioning your hair is an important step for hair care routine. If you have dry hair, using a conditioner is very necessary as your ends become dry and undernourished after shampooing. Conditioning will help the ends of our hair to become moisturized. Always use conditioner at the ends of the hair, not on the scalp. You can also use deep conditioners if you have dry hair.
4. Use a wide-tooth wooden comb
Always comb your hair with a wide-tooth wooden comb. Using the wooden comb will reduce the fiction, which will cause less hair fall and breakage. A plastic comb can damage your hair as it causes more fiction. Also, wider bristles are important because they would help your hair to detangle faster without hair fall and breakage.
5. Dry you Hair Naturally
If possible, let your hair naturally dry. Avoid blow-drying. Excessive blow-drying also results in hair fall as your hair gets exposed to heat. Heat is an enemy for hair growth. Blow drying will make your hair dry and the heat will suck the natural oils of the scalp.
6. Regular trimming for Hair

Trim your hair at least once in a 8 weeks to avoid split ends. Your hair will have less breakage and flyaways, thus, it will promote faster hair growth and less hair fall. A trimming gives healthy hair.
7. Use Scarfs
Always, use a scarf when you are going out in the heat. When our hair gets exposed to heat they become dry and undernourished. So, just like you apply sunscreen to protect your skin, use a scarf to protect your hair from the sun.
8. Take Supplements
For long and thick hair, you must take supplements which include Vitamin E tablets, keratin supplements, etc. Also, to have a protein-rich diet, it will also help promote hair growth. Include Omega-3 fatty acids, Zinc, Vitamin C, Iron, Vitamin D in your diet.
9. Use Mask
Instead of buying expensive hair masks, make hair masks naturally at home. You can use Aloe vera, curd, eggs, etc.
Hair Care Don’ts
1. Avoid Hot water
Do not use hot water on your scalp. It will make your hair more dry and frizzy. The hot water can stop the scalp from producing its natural oils. Go for lukewarm water, in the beginning, it will slightly open up your pores and when you are rinsing your shampoo– use cold water– it will block the pores, resulting in strong and healthy hair.
2. Do not rub your hair vigorously
Do not rub your hair vigorously with a towel after washing them. It will create more fiction, which can result in breakage, hair fall, split ends. Instead, just pat dry your hair. Use a microfiber towel to gently pat dry your hair. Microfiber towels create less fiction, they make hair dry faster. If you do not have access to a microfiber towel, use your old cotton T-Shirt to pat dry your hair.
3. Heat Styling Products

Avoid using styling tools like a straightener, curler, etc. Human hair is made of protein, mainly keratin, and hydrogen. The heat that comes out from these styling tools can damage the hair. It stops the natural secretion of natural oils. Even if you use such tools, always use a heat- protectant spray, immediately.
4. Chemicals
Do not go for any hair chemical treatment. It includes Keratin treatment, permanent straightening. They induce these hair treatments with chemicals — the long run –they often result in hair fall, dandruff and you may even have ‘damaged hair’.
Lastly, be regular with your hair care routine. You have to follow this routine for a lifetime, make it your practice. Be patient and consistent.
