The movie ‘Khuda Haafiz’ takes you back to the time when the world was hit by the great recession i.e., 2008. It is a romantic, action-thriller film. It takes a hit at one of the gravest issues in our society, i.e., human trafficking. The movie is directed by Faruk Kabir. Everything in the movie is right on point, displaying Faruk Kabir’s commendable directing skills.

Nothing in the movie feels like ‘excess’. Faruk has very successfully kept a proper balance between the scenes ranging from cute romantic moments to moments full of rage. The skillset required to direct a movie in such a manner comes with experience. In the past, he has assisted the direction of classics like ‘Phir Bhi Dil Hai Hindustani’ and ‘Pyaar Ishq Aur Mohabbat’ and has directed movies like ‘Allah Ke Banday’ and ‘The Awakening’ himself.

At the beginning of the movie, there’s a traditional Indian matchmaking scene where Nargis (Shivaleeka) says, “Even after having a job I feel like I’m applying continuously”. This scene is a direct hit on the Indian matchmaking system and tries to tackle the gender norms that exist even today.

The plot of the movie goes something like this- Sameer gets married to Nargis. Both of them are working but when the global recession hits, they lose their jobs. Afterward, they apply for a job in a country called Noman. Nargis leaves for Noman before Sameer, thinking that Sameer will meet her there in a few days but fate had something else planned for them. Both of them fight their own battles and struggle to unite once again.

How the events unfold is pretty interesting and will hook you to the screen. The pace of the movie is perfect- neither too slow and nor too fast. The viewers do not find time to get bored at all. Again, due to his good directing skills, Faruk was able to make every actor give their best shot.

The movie is more than successful when it comes to keeping the audience glued to their seats throughout the movie. The sudden, unexpected twists and turns won’t let the viewer get bored and will keep them curious about ‘What happens next?’. Even though the emotions portrayed in the movie are extremely varied, all the actors have successfully managed to pull them off. This movie is a perfect mixture of emotions and proves that by portraying too many emotions, you do not overdo a movie. You just need apt directing skills to pull it off.

From the beginning, only Vidyut can be seen punching and beating people around because he is not in the right mind after the ‘incident’. Faruk has done a brilliant job of choosing Vidyut for this role as he pulls off any combat scenes effortlessly. To know more, you will have to watch the movie. It is a delightful watch for sure. Usually, we watch movies when we’re bored but in this case, making time especially for the movie will totally be worth it.

Vidyut is usually known for his combat skills displayed in the movies like Force and Commando. But in this movie, he shows a whole different sweet and romantic side of his personality whenever he’s with Nargis. When he’s not with Nargis, his rage knows no bounds as he feels the pain of separation and imagines her being helpless in a foreign country. The only unusual thing about the movie which one might not like is Annu Kapoor’s accent when he speaks as Usman. Other than that the movie is a hit and is bagging a lot of love from its viewers. The IMDB rating for this movie is 8.3 out of 10. This clearly signifies that it is definitely worth a watch.
