Tips for shopping during sales season

Don’t all of us just love going shopping when our favorite stores announce their clearance or EOS (End of Season) sale? Sales season is when stores replace their stock with new collections and sell their old and leftover stock at discounted prices. This is when you can get your hands on your favorite styles and that too at affordable prices.

However, there are certain downsides attached to this as well. You know that there will be a lot of women eyeing the same things you want, which makes it stressful. Or you may find the perfect style, but not in your required size.

So here are some tricks that stick with while shopping during the sales season to make sure you get what you want at the best price.

1. Be quick

This is a simple mantra the earlier you go, the better your chances of getting the best deals on your favorite stuff are. If there is a sale that you come to know about, make sure you reach there as quickly as possible. This will allow you to choose from a wider selection and under relatively less pressure, as there will only be a small crowd by then.

2. Go on weekdays during the daytime

Prefer going on Thursdays during the daytime or any other weekdays, as you will find the stores much less crowded, which will make it easier for you to shop. Most people hit the stores on weekends, usually jamming the place. If you go on a weekday during the early days of the sale in the afternoon hours, chances are you will find the best pieces at the best prices.

3. Don’t give up

While shopping during a sale, always remember to ask around and never give up. If you like something, but can’t find the right size, DO NOT give up. Instead, ask around if the store has your size in their inventory. Check with other branches in your city if they have it or not. If not, check if it’s available online and get it delivered to your doorstep if you find it.

4. Make a list

Listing out things you want keeps you much more organized and makes your experience less stressful. Make sure you know what your priorities are so you don’t get distracted. Make a list of things that you need the most and focus on finding them first. You might get tempted towards a lot of things, but it will only result in buying something that you don’t even need.

5. Wait six to eight weeks

Usually, the stores wait for six to eight weeks after the product has arrived to mark down the prices. This is done to make space for the new collection and clear out the old ones, hence the name- clearance sale. So, if there is a dress that you love but can’t buy because it is out of your budget, wait for around six to eight weeks after it hits the stores to get it at an affordable price.

6. Be well informed

To make your shopping experience comfortable and stress-free, make sure you are well informed about the deals available and the return policies of the store during clearance. Most of the time, the items that are up for sale are non-returnable. Therefore, make sure you know the store’s return policy before making any purchase.

7. Invest in Basics

Avoid buying trendy clothes during a sale. The trends keep changing and buying something such during the end of the season or clearance would mean that it will be out of trend by the time you will have time to wear it. So, rather, go for wonderful quality, classic, and timeless pieces from good brands so they last. Invest in clothes that you can wear in every season.

8. Prepare a budget

Mostly when you go on a shopping spree during a sale, you end up spending much more than what you actually thought or, sometimes, all of it! So, it’s better to be prepared with a budget beforehand. This will keep you from splurging too much. Make a budget and fix a maximum amount. This will help you manage your finances and savings.

9. Make the internet your best friend

It’s good to depend on the internet a lot while planning to shop during a sale. You can check out the store’s online website to figure out what you want to buy. You can look for any discount coupons that might be available. This will help you in getting the best deals. Look for the latest trends and explore different stores other than the popular ones because you never know what you might find online.

10. Know when to buy

You might end up paying a much higher price if you buy something during the wrong month. For instance, shopping very close to Christmas will be much more expensive than if you do it a month before. Usually, Christmas sales start by the end of November and go ASAP. You might also end up with a very limited stock to choose from if you’ll go late, as most of it will be sold by then.

The sales season brings a lot of excitement and anticipation along with it. It is a chance to get your hands on your favorite styles at affordable prices. Especially in today’s times, when appearances matter the most, one always wants to look their best but not at the cost of ending up broke. Shopping is a joyous experience, and when done smartly, it can make you even happier.
